Webbed Fingers (Common)
Life in the Seashore Nest has granted it's citizens the most peculiar of adaptation: Webbed hands and Feet! It is available ONLY to those currently living in the Seashore Nest, whose family have resided there for generations.
The webs are not regular skin. They are specialized membranes similar to the pneumatic tissue of wings.
Caeli can consciously manipulate their webbing to expand, fold, or retract. When retracted, the webbing neatly folds inwards so that the caeli can still hold and use small objects. In a resting state, it adopts a pre-determined shape, often forming slight tents when fingers are close together.
This conscious control also extends to the starting point of the membrane on their fingers, allowing the caeli to adjust its position, much like retracting or extending wings. However, despite their adeptness at retracting most of the webbing, there remains a natural limit. Consciously retracting it fully can require effort, much like 'sucking in' one's stomach muscles for as long as possible. Notably, these membranes possess an instinctual response, readily deploying when in water.
