Traits
Foal Mane (Common)
The Foal-Like mane is not a trait from Northern Ancestry. Instead, it is a variant of the mane in a completely different gene, a hint of the uncommon long hair mane trait. This mane exists ONLY at the nape of the neck, and reaches at most the middle of the head. A Caeli cannot possess both a foal-like mane and a lion like mane; they are different gene sets that will not appear together.
A full mane will always be fur-like rather than hair-like, and a foal mane will be fuzzy and short and will never be long enough to be styled.
Foal and Lion manes MUST NOT appear like a traited hair mane.
Foal Manes must NOT be long or styled.
Northern Fur Coat (Common)
It is only available to those currently living in the North with extended Northern bloodlines.
Desert Coat (Common)
It is only available to those currently living in the Desert with extended Desert bloodlines.
Webbed Fingers (Common)
Life in the Seashore Nest has granted it's citizens the most peculiar of adaptation: Webbed hands and Feet! It is available ONLY to those currently living in the Seashore Nest, whose family have resided there for generations.
The webs are not regular skin. They are specialized membranes similar to the pneumatic tissue of wings.
Caeli can consciously manipulate their webbing to expand, fold, or retract. When retracted, the webbing neatly folds inwards so that the caeli can still hold and use small objects. In a resting state, it adopts a pre-determined shape, often forming slight tents when fingers are close together.
This conscious control also extends to the starting point of the membrane on their fingers, allowing the caeli to adjust its position, much like retracting or extending wings. However, despite their adeptness at retracting most of the webbing, there remains a natural limit. Consciously retracting it fully can require effort, much like 'sucking in' one's stomach muscles for as long as possible. Notably, these membranes possess an instinctual response, readily deploying when in water.
Lion Mane (Common)
Fur in a mane can consist of straight, fluffy, wavy, or curly hair. It should never be made of feathers or seem in any way unnatural. The fur needs to be uniform across the neck, though minor accessory styling such as beads, braids, feather accessories, flowers, or trinkets woven into the fur are acceptable.
Foal and Lion manes MUST NOT appear like a traited hair mane.
Lion Manes MUST BE under one half the length of a caeli's head.
Hair Mane (Uncommon)
It appears when the hair at the nape of a Caeli's neck grows to lengths beyond that of the body's coat. Not all Caeli have manes, and those that do often style them lavishly.
On the right are some examples of what this trait can look like! As stated before, there's no set rules on how to style these manes and thus they can come in different lengths, styles and textures!
